Bio Gas
- Biogas is one of the most viable alternatives to the burning energy question
- 28 cubic metres of biogas is equivalent to 1 domestic LPG cylinder (Organic waste of 200 kgs). 1 cubic metre of gas can generate 1.5 units of electricity
- Currently, the total biogas production in India is 2.07 billion m3/year. This is quite low compared to its potential, which is estimated to be in the range of 29-48 billion m3/year
- National Biogas and Manure Management Program (NBMMP) – Government of India had set a target to set up 6.5 lakh biogas plants across the nation with a budget of Rs.650 crore
- Methan village in Sidhpur tehsil, Gujarat saves 500 metric tonnes of fuelwood annually for the last 15 years it is home to India’s largest biogas plant
