How Does a Ground Mounted Solar Plant Work?

In a ground mounted solar plant, the PV effect is used to generate electricity from the sun's radiation. Fixed or tracking solar structures hold solar panels, with the PV cells creating direct current (DC) electricity when exposed to sunlight, exciting electrons in the semiconductor material, usually silicon. The DC electricity is then passed through a solar inverter that transforms it into alternating current (AC) that can be used in commercial, industrial or utility electrical systems.
